Malan dances to Take Me On

16 Months

Malan is talking up a storm.  Here are the words he is using:
Shoes, Juice, More, Ball, Momma, Daddy.  He also is using gestures like more and all done.  It is amazing to watch him develop and grow before my eyes.

Currently he is in to this Sprint commercial where a goat screams and then an usher song plays.  He hears it laughs and starts to dance.  Dancing for him is spinning around until he starts to fall over.

He is also a non-stop Beasty who wants to get in anything he can.  He climbs the couch, the bed, really anything he can.  Turn for a second and expect that he is up to something unsafe.

10 Months! plus a week and a half

Malan is 10 Months!  Wow time has flown by.  Here are the tricks that Malan is up to:
1.  May 31st he started to clap!
2.  He is really starting to use non-verbal communication.  He reaches for things he wants holding his two hands out and clenching his fingers.
3.  His first wave was to Aunt Staci, but we all screamed, so he has been hesitant to do it again.
4. Malan is cruising.  He uses the couch and other furniture to get around.  He still crawls fast too.
5.  He is reaching for anything he can.  He is tall so he can hold on to the kitchen table and grab things off of it.
6.  He falls asleep most nights around 9 in Daddy's lap.
7.  When he falls asleep for naps with Mommy he grabs my clothes, holding on tight.
8.  He smiles and loves to watch people.  He has very little stranger danger reaction.

Books and Babies

Today Malan and I went to the Hillsboro Library to attend "Books with Babies."  It is a weekly event where they read books, sing songs and play with toys.  There were probably 30 babies there from 6 months to two years.  It was lots of fun.  They had books to check out, so I picked up a few for Malan.  I didn't take a picture while there, maybe next time, but I have a couple when I came home.  Notice Malan is blurry in the picture,  That is because he is trying with all his might to eat the book, which he was successful at for a moment, while I tried to read to him.

Malan is Crawling!!!

Today Malan started to crawl forward.  He has been scooting backwards and rolling, but he finally is going forward.  He needs motivation though, in the form of a balloon.  It has to be far, but not too far or he will give up.

Many Milestones!

This week there were many milestones for Malan.  All of a sudden Wednesday Malan starting sitting up. Woo hoo!  He does not last too long, but getting stronger and stronger.  On Friday, with the help of Aunt Staci and Grandma, it was discovered that a tooth broke through.  Malan has a sharp little point in the middle of his bottom gums.  Also, on Friday, Malan sat in a high chair at BJs, his first time and Saturday he sat in the stroller without his carseat.  Also on Saturday he took his first bath in the laundry tub at the Yellow House.  What a busy few days for Malan!

Christmas Eve 2013

Today was a busy, but fun day.  Malan, Mom and I went and had a lovely lunch with Great Grandmother at Mary's Woods.  Malan was a total soc!  He smiled and talked to everyone.  The Malan and I rested a little at the Yellow House then headed over to Grandpa and Nana's for presents and dinner.

4 month doctor appointment

Malan had his 4 month doctor appointment today.  He weighs 14 pounds 2 oz (my guess was 14 pounds...not too bad).  This puts him in the 20th percentile.  He is 25 and a half inches long which puts him in the 55th percentile for height.  Hard to believe he was just 5 pounds.  Malan did great with the doctor and showed off his tricks especially the raspberry.  The tough part was the shots, but he quickly calmed down.  Such a champ!

Today Malan got a new mirror from Grandma.  This made him so happy and helped him stay on his tummy longer.

First morning at Salishan. Love the blackout curtains. Malan slept till 10. Now breakfast in bed. Malan gets his first.

Four Months!

November 23rd Malan is Four Months old already!  He is in love with his hands as you can see with the picture below.  I couldn't get one with out him holding his hands.  He likes to suck on his fingers, his thumb and forefinger.  We have been battling cradle cap and eczema.  His face gets itchy so he likes to rub it on the burp rag.  He is grabbing things and pulling on them.  When he is on his play mat he hits things with both hands and both feet.  I have learned his noises that tell me if he is hungry or tired.  When he is tired he rubs his eyes and moans.  He has started drooling a lot, but no teeth yet.  He can roll over, but still does not have much control.  His bowel movements slowed down which worried us, but does not seem to bother him.  He loves to play with the Toy Skwish.  He chews on it and on anything he can get to his mouth.

I kissed the baby

Tonight Malan and I went to the library to check out the book sale that they were having.  I found this book, "I Kissed the Baby!"  It seemed like a great one for Malan because Fode and I can't seem to stop kissing him.  At bedtime tonight I read the book to him three times.  I made sure to point out the title, author, and publication date (never to early to build literacy skills!).  He loved the vibrant colors.  After reading the book I sang hims some camp songs and off he went to sleep (for a about an hour...then I was back at it again).
