Here are my lovely nephews and niece.  This is a day we went to visit the park back when I was on summer vacation.  Now I am in the thick of it.  The school year began 9/3.  So far it has been just 9 days, but it feels like 9 months!  I love teaching and the challenge it brings, but the first few weeks are tough!  I have 28 4th graders!  Last year I only had 22, so this is a big jump.  

Lunch at Joe's Crab Shack

Last week I saw an add for Joe's Crab shack.  I knew that this restaurant was made for Fode.  They serve you a bucket of crab with corn on the cob.  This is a picture of Fode enjoying one of the crab legs.  He loved it!  He only wishes he had heard of the restaurant sooner.  

Here are pictures of Fode's parents.  Sidibe, who lives in Guinea, looks great.  Fode's father, Malan, was killed in the war that caused Fode to escape Liberia.  When he was going to Guinea he wanted to find pictures of his father because we had none.  He could only find one picture and they would not let him take it back to America.  So, as you can see, we have a picture of a picture.  I am grateful to have this picture.  We think it was taken after his trip to Mecca.

Here is my Honey fresh from Africa.  Clearly he was so busy in Guinea he did not have time to shave.  I barely recognized him as he was walking out from the gate.  If you are not familiar with the dates, Fode went to Guinea on April 3rd.  He came back on May 1st.  It was a long month for me!  Fode had not been to Africa for over 11 years! It was a long over due trip.
